Battlebots! Robotics at MBA: Rising 8th through 12th

Free

with Dr. Lech, Dr. Armstrong & Dr. Lankford

Calendar Aug 11, 2026 at 3 pm, runs for 1 week

This mid-afternoon camp is for MBA students ONLY.

Want to learn the serious side of robotics through our new competition of Battlebots? If so, join the Robotics Team (8th-12th grade) and watch how they build their robot for yet another lengthy competitive season. You can come for just one, two, or three of the days. It's up to you!

The opportunity listed here is for all non-robotics team members --especially seventh graders who will be thinking about joining the team as 8th graders.

If you are on the robotics team, this is a required camp to start the year (which will be longer than the dates here), as always. You will be reporting to the camp for all four days (Mon-Thursday) 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

You will learn the new Kilobots (high school battlebots in TN) system and work with one of the teams to build their competition robot. This will be some of their first meetings for the year, so you would be joining them largely on the ground floor.

We know there are several conflicts with "beginning of the year committments," but typically everything is done by 3:00 pm.

Finally...the merit badges. This class has the opportunity to provide a lot of requirments for a few of them (the most of any of the summer classes really): Robotics, Programming, Electronics & Digital Technology.  If you want to get some credit for these bages work with Dr. Lech WELL AHEAD of the class's start date.

Again, this camp is for MBA students only.

Camp ENDADA!

Free

with Catherine Hollifield & Alison Flanagan

Calendar Aug 16, 2026 at 9 am

It's back again...this class is crucial to planning the festival with maximum student input on the whole process. If this is something that interests you then sign up today.

ENDADA is MBA's premier student-run festival with a mission to celebrate music and the arts. Festival planning begins in the summer as we evaluate last year's festival and plan themes and overarching goals for the new year. Although this festival often seems geared toward the visual arts or music students (and we would love to have you!) - most skills/hobbies at MBA - from web design, video editing, fundraising/finances, product placement, organizational abilities, creative writing, etc. - are useful and necessary for ENDADA. If you are interested in learning more and helping out - please sign up!

Please Note: Attending this workshop is not a commitment to working with ENDADA after school, during the year. It is for this one day only. Send any questions to Ms. Hollifield or Ms. Flanagan
